I was a founder and Head of Design for Alt-Fest - the largest alternative festival in the universe.

I created both design and human interface guidelines that form the foundation of both the digital experience, print media and to help grow and maintain a strong brand presence. This combined with wire framing, prototyping and research I have created an online presence that is unlike any other global music festival.

As well as managing and directing the design and experience I was closely involved with print, physical site, sound, stage and lighting design for the festival including regular site visits to the festival grounds. And worked closely with finance; created and implemented an e-commere solution; and much more.

I was also responsible for performing user research and testing, constantly examining current implementations and a continue rhythm of iteration and integration of new technologies and design practices including the design and integration of a commerce solution.

Working closely with artist, musicians, models, photographers, film makers, promoters, managers and the general public to maintain a strong brand presence and consistent level and quality for all aspect of design and experience for the festival.

One of the biggest challenges was creating an experience that is consistent, usefull and fun to interact with acroos ALL devices without using proprietary technologies (e.g. Flash, Apps specific to a single operating system) - and with a very small team of just two including me. The approach I took was to create a 100% responsive and fluid expeirence that can be enjoyed by anyone with a internet connection and a browser. This means much testing across as many devices as possible (often enlisting friends and colleagues as user testers) and ongoing iteration. I have found with modern digital design that there is never a final locked design - technology is always changing and so to my designs continually iterate to improve and keep up with these technological advances.
